FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WIIKWEMKOONG – JULY 23, 2025 – The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service (WTPS) is excited to welcome Anthony Kilburn as Staff Sergeant and the new Divisional Commander for the Support and Logistics Division. Staff Sergeant Kilburn brings more than 20 years of dedicated experience in law enforcement, including extensive leadership in community policing, officer training, and organizational development across Canada.

“I am deeply honoured to join the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service and to serve the people of this Territory,” said Staff Sergeant Kilburn. “Community-focused policing has always been at the heart of my work, and I look forward to building meaningful relationships and contributing to the safety and wellbeing of those we serve.”
Staff Sergeant Kilburn began his policing career over two decades ago and has since served in a wide range of frontline and leadership roles including Criminal Intelligence, Investigations, and Officer Safety and Training. He most recently held the position of Inspector with the CPKC Police Service, where he led national initiatives related to training, professional standards, and accountability.

Throughout his tenure with the CPKC Police Service, Kilburn commanded regional Divisions and worked with municipal and First Nations police services in Ontario, the Prairie Provinces, and British Columbia. His approach to policing is known for being people-first, collaborative, and rooted in building strong community relationships.
Originally from Alberta, Anthony will be relocating to Manitoulin Island with his wife Jennifer and their two children. His transition into WTPS will be supported by Staff Sergeant Buligan, who will serve as a mentor and liaison throughout the onboarding process. Executive oversight will be provided by Inspector Duffy, who leads all three WTPS divisions.

“We are thrilled to have Staff Sergeant Kilburn join our team,” said Chief of Police Ron Gignac. “Bringing dedicated leaders into our organization is one of the most meaningful ways we can strengthen the support we offer to our community. With Staff Sergeant Kilburn’s leadership, we are better equipped to meet our community’s needs, foster trust, and continue building a safe and resilient future for Wiikwemkoong.”
The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service looks forward to the knowledge and leadership Staff Sergeant Kilburn will bring as WTPS continues to grow and strengthen its commitment to culturally informed, community-driven policing.
