FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WIIKWEMKOONG – March 12, 2026 – At approximately 8 PM on March 11, 2026 the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service (WTPS), with assistance from the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and UCCM Police Service K9 and Drug Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence within the Territory. Five individuals were located inside the residence.  Officers seized cocaine and Canadian currency as they conducted the search.

During the execution of the warrant, one male was found to be in possession of a replica handgun concealed on his person.  The male had previously been served a trespass notice from Wiikwemkoong by Band Council Resolution, as a result of a previous drug charge.

A 38-year-old male from Toronto has been charged with the following offences:

  • Carry Concealed Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Trafficking in a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A 47-year-old female from Wiikwemkoong, who was located inside the residence, was also wanted on a bench warrant related to a previous investigation. She was additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and held for a bail hearing.

A 33-year-old female from Wiikwemkoong, who was the subject of an active unrelated firearms investigation, was also located inside the residence and arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon Obtained by the Commission of an Offence
  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance

A 38-year-old male and a 33-year-old female from Wikwemkoong were also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and were released on an undertaking.
