WIIKWEMKOONG, ON – June 25, 2026 — Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service (WTPS) arrested two individuals on June 21, 2026, at approximately 5:50 p.m., after receiving a traffic complaint about an ATV on Wikwemikong Way.
Officers attended and located the ATV with a female driver and male passenger. The driver, 29-year-old Eliza MISHIBINIJIMA of Wiikwemkoong, was found to be wanted on an outstanding WTPS warrant and was arrested. During the investigation, police located suspected cocaine and fentanyl.
The male passenger, 31-year-old Connor SCOTT, of no fixed address, was also found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant held by the Ontario Provincial Police and was arrested.
“This incident highlights the important role our community plays in keeping Wiikwemkoong safe,” said Chief of Police Ron Gignac. “Swift reporting allowed our officers to intervene quickly, take wanted individuals into custody, and prevent harmful drugs from circulating in the community. We thank those who came forward and encourage everyone to continue reporting suspicious or dangerous activities without delay.”
Police seized over $2,600 of fentanyl, crack cocaine and cocaine as well as over $1,000 in Canadian currency, packaging materials, a scale, cutting agent, and multiple cell phones.
MISHIBINIJIMA and SCOTT were both charged with:
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
