Wiikwemkoong, ON  — May 2, 2026 — A search warrant executed on May 1, 2026 led to a seizure of suspected controlled substances, including cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, and prescription pills, with an estimated street value exceeding $126,000. Officers also seized over $20,000 in Canadian currency and two handguns, including one loaded firearm.

Members of the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service (WTPS), with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response Team (ERT), Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), and the UCCM Police Service K9 Unit, have laid multiple charges following the execution of a search warrant in the community.

“The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service remains committed to aggressively targeting drug trafficking and the presence of illegal firearms within the community,” said Ron Gignac, Chief of Police, WTPS. “Individuals involved in the distribution of drugs or possession of illegal weapons can expect a coordinated, intelligence-led response involving multiple policing partners.  These activities place the safety of the community at risk and will not be tolerated.”

A 41-year-old female, a 21-year-old female, and a 38-year-old female from Wiikwemkoong, as well as an 18-year-old male from Scarborough, have each been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) – Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl) – Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Crack Cocaine) – Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Hydromorphone) – Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a Weapon – Section 95(1), Criminal Code
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm – Section 86(1), Criminal Code
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – Section 91(1), Criminal Code
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Section 354(1), Criminal Code

All accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Additionally, a 27-year-old female was arrested and released on an undertaking with a future court date, charged with Obstruct Police contrary to Section 129 of the Criminal Code.
