Wiikwemkoong, ON — September 4, 2025 — The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service (WTPS) extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to Staff Sergeant John Buligan for his outstanding leadership and contributions during his nine-month assignment as Divisional Commander. Staff Sergeant Buligan, who joined WTPS in January 2025 on temporary assignment from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), will return to his home detachment in Dufferin County on September 14, 2025.
“John has been an outstanding leader whose contributions to WTPS and the Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory will be long remembered,” said Chief of Police Ron Gignac, WTPS. “His focus on community safety and capacity building has made a real difference, and we are grateful for his time with us.”
During his tenure, Staff Sergeant Buligan demonstrated exceptional commitment to community safety and wellbeing. He played a central role in advancing WTPS’s drug strategies, overseeing CDSA search warrants, and leading initiatives that strengthened public safety and enhanced operational capacity. His dedication to collaboration, innovation, and service excellence has left a lasting positive impact on the community and the organization.
To honour Staff Sergeant Buligan’s service, WTPS will host a farewell luncheon on September 12, 2025.
At the same time, WTPS is proud to announce the appointment of Staff Sergeant Anthony Kilburn and Staff Sergeant Michael Force as the Service’s new Division Commanders. Both bring extensive experience and a deep commitment to serving the Wiikwemkoong community.
“We are excited to welcome Anthony and Mike into their new leadership roles,” said Chief Gignac. “Their skills, experience, vision, and dedication will help us continue to build on our successes and strengthen public safety across the Territory.”
