FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WIIKWEMKOONG – AUGUST 27, 2025 – The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service (WTPS) is pleased to welcome Michael Force as Staff Sergeant. With more than 20 years of policing experience, Staff Sergeant Force brings an extensive background in tactical operations, community engagement, professional standards, and officer wellness to his new leadership role.

“I am honoured to join the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service and to serve this community,” said Staff Sergeant Force. “I look forward to working alongside the dedicated members of WTPS to build on its tradition of safety, inclusivity, and resilience.”

Staff Sergeant Force began his policing career in 2004 with the Waterloo Regional Police Service, serving in the Central (Kitchener Division) before moving into youth engagement as a School Resource Officer, where he led proactive youth programs and complex investigations. In 2013, he joined the Emergency Response Team, taking on roles including Search Manager, Breacher, Explosive Disposal Technician, and Crisis Negotiator, and was promoted to Team Leader in 2018 and Sergeant in 2019.

His subsequent leadership roles included Detective Sergeant in the Professional Standards Branch, overseeing complex internal and external investigations, and Sergeant with the Community, Youth Engagement team, where he implemented de-centralized crime suppression strategies and the Stratified Policing model. Across all these assignments, he frequently served as Acting Staff Sergeant, refining his leadership approach and dedication to high-functioning, inclusive teams.

In addition to his operational and leadership experience, Force has been a member of the Peer Support team for nearly a decade and has taught in the accelerated Police Foundations Program at Fanshawe College, Woodstock, for the past five years. His focus on officer wellness, integrity, and relationship-building has been a hallmark of his career.

Originally from southwestern Ontario, Staff Sergeant Force will be relocating to Wikwemikong with his wife of 19 years, Meaghan, who will work as a Registered Nurse at the Manitoulin Health Centre.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Staff Sergeant Michael Force to WTPS,” said Chief of Police Ron Gignac. “His depth of experience, leadership, and commitment to community policing align perfectly with our values. Michael’s arrival marks an exciting new chapter for our service, and I’m confident he will make a lasting, positive impact on our officers and the community we serve.”

The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service looks forward to the knowledge, leadership, and community-focused approach Staff Sergeant Force will bring as WTPS continues to grow and strengthen its commitment to culturally informed, community-driven policing.
