FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WIIKWEMKOONG – March 21, 2025 – Just after 6 p.m. on March 20, 2025, Wikwemikong Tribal Police Officers were dispatched to a collision at the intersection of Willow Street and Pontiac Avenue in Wiikwemkoong. Information provided indicated that a UTV collided with a vehicle, resulting in three individuals being ejected from the UTV with life-threatening injuries.
WTPS officers and EMS personnel arrived on the scene and initiated life-saving measures. Unfortunately, two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while one other succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The driver of the motor vehicle was treated as a precautionary measure with minor injuries.
The Wiikwemkoong Community Crisis Response Team, and Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service Crisis Response Team were deployed to assist the family members affected from this devastating fatal collision and continue to provide assistance.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. Their names are not being released out of respect for their families at this point in time.
The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service continues to investigate this tragic incident with the Collision Reconstruction Team from the Ontario Provincial Police Northeast Region.
