Salary: $128,918 – $138,715 + $5,000 Northern Incentive Compensation Enhancement + Provincial Retention Incentive (based on years of service)

The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service is accepting applications from a police officer who is currently serving with the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service, or currently serving in a Canadian Police Service, to make application for the Front-Line Supervisor Sergeant, who will coordinate and supervise the delivery of WTPS platoons. The Sergeant will be responsible for providing operational supervision of personnel within their platoon.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
•Leadership of a front-line platoon and all staff of the police service as needed.
•Promotes a positive work environment free from discrimination and harassment.
•Providing advice and guidance to staff on operational or administrative matters andassisting them to establish plans and objectives in their work with the public.
•Ensuring staff provide courteous, professional support and assistance to the public andassist in providing ongoing support to victims of crime.
•Assisting personnel in reaching their full potential through motivation, counselling,training, and coordination of career development opportunities.
•Monitoring training/development programs to ensure employees receive appropriatetraining, guidance, and opportunities to achieve optimum performance.
•Recommending personnel for special duties or training.
•Conducting performance appraisals and completing evaluation reports in accordancewith policy and procedures.
•Resolving employee work or performance problems and referring unresolved problems to thesupervisor.
•Performs assigned operational duties.
•Performs administrative duties to ensure an optimum level of efficiency is maintained.
•Provide “clarity, purpose, and coaching” leadership techniques when providing orders anddirection to staff.
Summary of Qualifications:
•Personnel records must indicate exemplary status with no form of discipline in the past 12 months.
•Knowledgeable and respectful of the Wiikwemkoong culture, language, and traditions.
•Strong investigative and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
•Effective interpersonal communication, discretion, and teamwork abilities.
•Supervisory ability to manage performance, coach, and mentor staff.
•High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to community policing and culturalawareness.
Basic Requirements:
•Ontario Police College Certificate or equivalent as recognized by the Ontario PoliceCollege.
•If retired as a sworn officer, a certified retirement date is required.
•Must complete, pass, and maintain annual Use of Force training.
•Must possess a valid class G Ontario Driver License.
•Possess current First Aid/CPR Certificates.
•Be physically able to perform the duties of the position.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality a MUST.
•Be prepared to take an Oath/Affirmation of Office and Secrecy.
•Be of good moral character and habits.
•Pass a detailed background check that includes security clearance checks, credit,and reference checks.
•If you are or have been a previously sworn police officer, to provide proof at aCanadian Police Service where you have passed to become a sworn CanadianPolice Officer.
